01-01-04 It's snowing . . . . . . and it looks like it's going to go on for a while. It's nice that there's finally a decent amount of snow. I said that I read The Matrix screenplay yesterday, right? Here's something that floored me; on the first page of the screenplay is a little note saying that everything in this script was filmed, however it's not exactly what was seen in theatres. The following example is cited, " . . . in the final speech by Neo [ . . . ] which was altered when test audiences didn't know the word 'chrysalis'." Didn't know the word chrysalis?! No wonder that trumped up "news" stories like Michael Jackson, Laci Peterson and the like capture the attention of the viewing public. Ignorance is its own reward and ignorant people are easier to lead. There's so much going on in the world, yet news is a ratings game. We've gotten what we asked for. I wonder what we need to do to galvanize people out of ignorance? Hey, we're all stupid about a lot of things. No one person can understand everything. Yet there's so much that we can know -- what's the magic that makes it happen? Back one. ||||| Forward one.
