Yay! My geology term paper is done, one page longer than required, with shiny, happy MLA-style references strewn thither and yon. I did the paper on Mount Tabor (one of two volcanoes within metropolitan areas in the continental United States) and the Boring Lava Fields. Yes, Boring. They were identified by a geologist, Ray Treasher, who called them after the town in Oregon where they seemed to cluster.

I have an urge to go to Boring, Oregon, just to say I'd been there. Gas prices being what they are, frivolous trips for laughs aren't a priority.

Speaking of gas prices. Great wall-eyed wallabies on an alluvial fan! The "cheap" gas station nearby has its regular, unleaded gas at $2.19 a gallon. That's just today. Who knows what it'll be tomorrow. Gas is still cheaper in the US than for most of the rest of the world, but DAMN! Almost $20 to fill ToraTorakku the other day.

Apparently the search for a fabulously wealthy, extremely old person with a deep, rattling cough and a penchant for gifting strangers with fabulous sums of money has to be stepped up. Anyone got any leads? I'll share.
