Have your eyeballs ever leapt from your skull? Mine tried to escape today after reading a paraphrased version of Cheney's speech in the Boregonian (9/2/2004). What set off the attempted migration (I think they were heading for the bathroom to clean up) was the following:

"The vice-president hailed President Bush as a 'superb command in chief' who has helped restore the economy since the attacks of September 11th and will lead the nation to victory in the war on terror."

Seems that there's an exciting new definition of economic restoration that allows for things like rising poverty rates, fewer jobs, and increased market volatility. For the past three years. It's not news, look at the recent census bureau report about income, poverty, and health insurance coverage in the United States. (.pdf file Census Report August 2004)

This administration has learned that if they say something often enough and loud enough, it becomes truth. Weapons of mass destruction. Evil empire. The Department of Homeland Security. What is this, the real world or some superhero comic universe?

C'mon people, where's your critical thinking? Are y'all sheep or humans?

*phew*

I'm sending out CVs and networking for all I'm worth. Tonight is First Thursday in the Pearl. Some friends are exhibiting at Blackfish Gallery. It'll be fun to check them out.

The last couple of weeks I reverted to a weenie, whiny, clingy, older version of myself. Not real proud of myself at all. Why can't I change without reverting? Why can't I always do the right, smart, healthy thing?

Guk.
