Mater just called with the news that Granmere died this morning.

Granmere was an amazing woman; she lived a healthy, heart-felt life. I'll miss her dry wit and her capable hands.

A few years ago, Granmere had me make a list of things that I wanted after she died. (Granmere was always very organized.) I fought it, saying that I felt like a vulture. She laughed and said that it'd ease her mind. So I asked for her huge dictionary and its stand, and a small chest of drawers in which she kept all of her needlework supplies.

Mater told me today that Granmere was being cremated, and that she requested a pendant for me. That way, I'll always have a physical reminder of her with me. I like that.
