I woke to tendrils of fog snaking through the backyard, and Hell Kitty demanding her breakfast. Then we had a little love-fest (argh, cat drool) and on to the day's activities.

I finally finished (at 2:30 this morning) my women's studies essay. It turned out okay. The final paragraph went a little like this (maestra, if you please):

"We are children, siblings, lovers, spouses, parents, workers, students, and teachers but most of all, we are people. And we have the right to lay claim to the world. We have the right to raise our voices to the heavens, no matter how much those voices may shake. We have the right to be."

It was a good class, though it chaps my hide that so much of the information was new to such a large proportion of the class. Why is this so? So many of my classmates seemed to be looking for permission from some source to become aware, thus my going on about the right to exist -- we don't need permission or approval from anyone.

Now I am the mental equivalent of a small, underfed larch.
