Orun|Aye is two myths based on apataki of the Yoruba.

The myths travelled with the slave trade to the Americas. The people clung to their beliefs, even as they gave lip-service to the lonely god of Catholics and Protestants. This hybrid became voudoun in Haiti; macumba in Brazil (though it can also be an insult);and La Regla de Ochas in Cuba -- Santeria.

It's been so lovely to research, read and re-write stories about warm places. Winter in Portland isn't horrible. It feels close to interminable. Even water can destroy stone, given time.

We've had our first hints of impending spring (see Schtupping Squirrels). The air is getting that rich earth smell. Crocuses are, uhm, croaking. No. Wait. Y'know. It's like an apple pie just out of reach. My mouth is watering. I want a bite.

Ooo. Hello. I'm back. *ahem*

*grin*
