I belong to one of those "friends" web sites, akin to Friendster, but not. It's been interesting. Some of the proposals had me gagging gently into my wine.

There was the married fellow who asked if I was open-minded enough to consider an illicit affair with a hitched person. Points for honesty, yes. And no, I'm not open-minded enough. It's not so much the sex that's disturbing, it's that he's breaking a vow. If this person is willing to do that, what other horrors is he willing to perpetrate? Ugh.

I know that people have "open" marriages, or claim to. If that's the case, make sure your spouse is in on the deal from the beginning. Have the guts to make it truly open. All of the "open" marriages that I've seen are unbalanced. One partner calls the shots, having her or his cake and eating it too. The other goes along with the vain hope of preserving an unhealthy relationship. Call me a romantic, call me hopelessly reactionary...but when you give your word, it's about honour. Circumstances change, hoo-boy I know that, but don't be married if you can't uphold your word.

Another man said that I probably wasn't looking for a man, but that he'd love to be my friend. I answered that friends of the strictly platonic variety were fine, otherwise, no. Never heard from him again.

My favourite, so far, is this one:

"but even though your much older than me, i find u to be super attractive......kinda interested, since u live in the same town as me."

*grin* Silver-tongued devil. What amazes me is that on my profile page, in large, easy-to-read, bolded letters it says that I'm interested only in friends and networking. What is confusing or coy about that statement?

Finished another bag last night. It's nice to finish something. Still have to make a lining and some fiddly decorative sewing. Notorious for starting projects and losing interest, I fear for my TRN. *grin* Then again, nothing ventured, eh?

Went to the library yesterday. After my horrible faux pas of keeping six books a week past the due date, I'm whipping through my haul quickly. Helps that they're mostly trashy romance novels. Gotta read 'em to write 'em. I admit weariness with their plucky heroines and alpha-male heroes. At this point I hunger for anything different. There have been a few.

I am drawn to the more explicit ones. That must be due to the years of porn reading. Still trying to work on writing sex. Not having much luck. Got the mechanics down, that's easy. Writing good, effective, oooo-gotta-go!, sex scenes is difficult. I'm aiming for staircases above Penthouse Forum level.
