I feel so decadent, so writerly, so shameless. Woke at 9 this morning. Wandered into the kitchen, made breakfast and coffee. Read the headlines, sighed heavily (more on that soon) and read the comics.

Could someone please explain to me why Israel thought it'd be a good idea to kill the leader of Hamas in his wheelchair on his way to (or from, I'm not sure which) the mosque. Are they being willfully stupid?

Here's my plan. We line up everyone in the Middle East in huge rows. Then, one by one, we punch each person in the nose and tell him or her to grow the fuck up. Nobody's behaved well. Nobody belongs on the moral high ground. No one's been brave enough to fight by not fighting.

I realize that a lot of it is due to 19th century European meddling in the affairs of the region, but come on!
