Major, unrepentant geekage going on here. Know how I spent my morning? Writing poetry, dirty stories and looking up photos from the Farscape mini-series, Peacekeeper Wars. Wait, that's not all; did the crossword, knitted a couple of rows and talked to some ebullient city worker who called with information for Mater.

Poor guy. Mater left three messages for him. The second time he called back, I could tell he wasn't happy.

Someday I'll plant a night-time garden. It'll be all light-coloured flowers and spectral fragrance. Hidden corners and little light. I want a low bed in the garden, to sleep outside, sometimes. That'll happen when I build my house with a courtyard garden.

Hell, I can dream.

I've always wanted to live in a house with a courtyard. That sense of enclosed exposure fascinates me. It'd be more Japanese-style than Mediterranean; lush greens and sparing use of white blooms and foliage.

I saw a beautiful fern today in a catalog. The fronds are silver and the stems are reddish. That got me thinking about a night garden.

However, I have the Thumb of Doom when it comes to plants. It'd be nice to try though.
