The word of the day is: kakistocracy and it means government by the worst citizens. Can you think of an example of a kakistocracy? C'mon, it shouldn't be too difficult.

Gran'mater sent me away with a bunch of new books. Most of them were reference books that deal with words--obscure ones. Whee! I now have a copy of Ambrose Bierce's The Devil's Dictionary. It's about damn time, too.

There's one, The Wordsworth Book of Intriguing Words, that I can't put down. The first chapter contains nothing but words about words. *boggle* The next time I kill a mosquito, I'll commit an imagocide. Instead of being afraid of crucifixes, I'm staurophobic.

Oh!

Oh!

Oh!

I just found the chapter that contains the collective nouns for groups of things. You know, a knot of toads, an exaltation of larks, a gaggle of geese. These are brilliant. A party of jays. A kindle of kittens. A business of ferrets. An ostentation of peacocks. A cowardice of curs. A chattering of starlings. A clowder of cats.

I'm so thrilled, I can't type. More exploration needs to be done.

Gotta go!
