On the front page of the Boregonian today is a picture of heavily-armed Metro cops on a DC Metro train. Chilling. It's why I wanted to leave DC back in the early 90s. I knew that it'd be a target. Hell, it's always been a locus for people whose grasp of reality is flawed.

I wonder how much the present administration going to exploit the situation for its benefit? Pumping up fear and panic--'cause panicked people are much easier to control, aren't they? It's going to get really bad before the election, mark my words. And now the shrub wants to appoint an intelligence czar? What the fuck is this? Playschool? Corporate-think? Yeah, let's not address the real problems. No, let's make a new position, give it a fancy title and that'll solve the problems.

I know that simple solutions aren't the answer. The current situation didn't arise overnight--and a lot of it is our government's doing. The issues are complex, confusing, and ideology-addled fucktards from all sides (thanks, Marsist) don't help.
