It's turkey day. The television is awash with ads urging mass consumerism for the solstice holidays.

Who gets up to be at a store at 5:30 in the goddamn morning? What is so damned valuable that it can't wait until a human hour? If I'm getting up to be somewhere at 5:30 in the morning, it better involve snowboarding, horses, or ending the day with sand between my toes and a margarita (rocks and salt, thankyouverymuch) in my hand while warm breezes dance about the beach. Not shopping. Ugh.

I just pulled an apple pie out of the oven. The house smells like baked apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, butter, and sugar. I'm going to a friend's for dinner later today. Mater's working, as is StepPater, and sitting alone in the house and feeling sorry for myself is too seductive.

Happy t-day.
