Right next to one of the roads into Mater's neighbourhood is a decorative rock business. It seems to be a holdout from when this area was rural. They sell everything from eensy gravel in a multitude of colours, to ginormous chunks of the Cascades, to carved polar bears (that always develop a disturbing growth of moss on their bottoms) and primitive basins carved from boulders. The owner is really nice. Last year he gave a generous gift certificate to Oregon Literacy's auction/fundraiser. He's a good 'un.

But the best part, the very best part, is that it's summer. Summer means that all the college boys come to work. The boys spend all day, every day, lifting and moving rocks...with their shirts off. Muscles moving and stretching under all that young, lightly tanned skin. *sigh*

They's pretty to look at. And they blush so charmingly when they're whooped at. Not that I would ever be so gauche. Okay, there was that one time where I tried to go over to the rock business with a lawn chair, a cooler, and a camera...

The arrival of the college boys is an event that I look forward to all year.

*grin*
