I tend to fall asleep with the TV on. Sometimes what I see when I wake up is deeply disturbing and/or funny. Waking up to softcore porn is funny. Waking up to an infomercial that claims to explain "Today's headlines seen through the clear light of biblical prophecy," is fucking chilling. How do the scattered beliefs of a nomadic tribe in the Middle East affect today's headlines? What version of the Bible is used? King James? Tyndale? Gutenberg?

I'm alarmed at how religion has wormed its way into the United States' political life. Silly me for thinking that the separation of church and state is vital to the very existence of the US. Silly me.

Hell, believe what you want. Safe, sane and consensual--just like with sex--and shut the hell up. Please, please, please do not present your beliefs as more valid, correct, or laudable than anyone else's. Don't rant about 'em. Don't follow me around telling me that I'm going to Hell (Who are you to judge me?), don't proselytize at me, and don't get in my face about it.

Some of the best christians I've ever met, haven't been.

Now I'm going to take my agnostic ass outside to lie in the hammock.
